Volunteer Trip (Bali)

Bali, Indonesia

Tern Travel led two separate and amazing groups through Bali between August 14 and September 10, 2019. The trips consisted of a total of 25 amazing volunteers for a combined total of 14 days.

Supply distribution 2.jpeg

We were asked by a village called Selat, to clean up trash around their temple, and while there we joined with the local youth and were able to pick up over 15 bags of trash in the surrounding area. At that same village we were asked to fund and distribute necessity bags to the elderly and people with disabilities. Each of the 11 bags were filled with soap, cooking oil, 10kg of rice, a carton of 30 eggs, 8 packets of noodles, and a reusable shopping bag.

We distributed 26 water filters to communities without access to clean drinking water, we cleaned over 80% of all of the tanks at the sea turtle rescue, gave medicine to many sick turtles, we prepared fish for turtle food, and before we released over 30 baby sea turtles we picked up over 10 bags of trash from the beach that we released them on.

We were also able to donate almost $2000 worth of supplies to the children’s home to help them raise money to build a kitchen. Although we were able to bring money and resources to these villages and children, what we feel the most passionate about is our time, compassion and labor. We got to scrubbing at the turtle rescue and we got to sweating at the trash clean-ups and distributions, but what we will truly treasure forever, was our ability to immerse ourselves in the villages and meet the locals of the islands. We were truly able to help in the best ways we know how and the ways that the villages needed us to.
